As part of its ongoing educational and spiritual mission, Kuramaa Organization held a meaningful event within its Education and Development Program: the Imam Al-Awza’i Hadith Memorization Competition, involving 45 Syrian orphaned children in Lebanon.
This competition aimed to deepen the children’s connection with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by helping them memorize a selected group of authentic Hadiths, understand their meanings, and apply them to daily life—contributing to their spiritual and ethical development.
Strengthening the Bond with the Prophet’s Teachings
The Hadith competition was not just about memorization—it was a powerful educational and spiritual experience. It gave the children an opportunity to internalize the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and live by his noble character.
Each participant learned to:
-
Memorize carefully selected Hadiths appropriate for their age.
-
Understand the meanings and life lessons embedded in each Hadith.
-
Apply these prophetic values—honesty, kindness, respect—in their everyday behavior.
The competition was held in a respectful and encouraging atmosphere, where children thrived emotionally and intellectually, showing strong commitment and enthusiasm.
Purpose and Impact of the Competition
At Kuramaa, we believe that building a child’s character is as vital as supporting their basic needs. The Imam Al-Awza’i Hadith Competition was designed to serve several key goals:
-
Inspire love for the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings among orphans.
-
Promote Islamic values through meaningful and age-appropriate education.
-
Enhance memory and comprehension skills in a supportive environment.
-
Build self-confidence and identity through positive public engagement.
-
Provide orphans with opportunities to shine and be recognized in uplifting settings.
This aligns with Kuramaa’s broader mission: to empower orphaned and displaced children with the knowledge, values, and confidence they need to thrive.
Recognition That Builds Confidence
At the end of the competition, the top-performing children were awarded certificates of appreciation and symbolic prizes. But the impact of this moment went far beyond the gifts.
For these children—many of whom have endured loss, displacement, and hardship—being recognized publicly sent a powerful message:
“You are capable. You are valued. You are not forgotten.”
Kuramaa understands the importance of emotional support and affirmation, especially for orphans. These moments of pride build resilience and inspire children to pursue excellence.
